Saturday morning, the ultimate run meets eating contest will be on! It's the Tuscaloosa Krispy Kreme Challenge. The 2nd annual event to be held this time at Government Plaza downtown. Once again, this is a major fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Alabama.

The way it works, you run one mile, eat 12 Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, then run another mile. It sounds crazy, because it is! A funny crazy. A twist to your average race. Just think of the race against the clock to push your legs, then push your stomach to endure the inflation with a dozen doughnuts. Then, your whole body will freak, as you run again. Running has a mental challenge aspect to it, but not like trying to convince your body to consume so many doughnuts in one sitting. If you love doughnuts, which I think we all do, it's definitely is something to try!

Last year was the first ever Tuscaloosa Krispy Kreme Challenge, and my first time trying anything like it. Going into the challenge, I though no problem, piece of cake... or doughnut. Oh no, it was tough, much tougher than I realized. It was also really hysterical to watch others labor through their boxes!

Just look at these photos from last year. Right here, I'm getting comfortable and ready to rock that box!

It wasn't long until my stomach turned upside down and it became so hard to eat any more doughnuts!

Somehow, that challenge was completed with a medal to show for it. What a morning!

I've searched for ideas/tips on how to better to approach it. Some say don't combine multiple doughnuts together, others say you should. Some say take your time. That doesn't make sense, you'll be there all day. You have to push, it's a 'race.' There really isn't a magical tip for me to share, maybe you have one, let us know in the comment box below.

One thing is for sure, you should come out for a morning of fun at the Tuscaloosa Krispy Kreme Challenge! It will be morning sharing big laughs and helping to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Plus, there will victory party afterwards at nearby Innisfree Irish Pub with a buffet and live music. Yes, more eating. Ha! Hey, St. Patrick's Day is Monday, so here's our early start!

It's fun for all ages, even Big Al will take the challenge again!
