Time Warp Tuesday: Meg’s Tracks for April 2, 2019
Time to crack open the Alt Vault for another Time Warp Tuesday. Here are the seven retro tracks your girl is digging this week. Y'all ready?
How Can You Be Sure/ Radiohead
It's surreal to me that Radiohead is now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I feel so, so old now. Anyway--this B side predates OK Computer (arguably the greatest album of all time) and is one of my favorite early Radiohead songs.
The Last Day of Summer/ The Cure
The Cure is now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, too. Again: I am so old. I love this song (and so many Cure songs) because while it's beautiful, a deep current of aching sadness is welling underneath. JUST LIKE ME.
By Starlight/ The Smashing Pumpkins
I was in sixth grade when Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness was released. I saved up my babysitting money to buy the double CD, and I regret nothing. This particular song was the soundtrack to many makeout sessions. FUN TIMES.
Born Slippy/ Underworld
I had an argument with a friend last week about the Trainspotting soundtrack because I am a pretentious pedant with no life whatsoever. Y'all remember this banger?
Playground Love/ Air
While we're talking about soundtracks and songs to which I used to shamelessly makeout, allow me to present this Air song.
My Dream Girl Don't Exist/ Neutral Milk Hotel
Excuse me while I sob onto my laptop.
Teenage Riot/ Sonic Youth
Anyone want to just get in the car and drive? Let's blast this one and get the you-know-what outta here.
