It's almost here! The wait is almost over for the biggest of the college bowls, the BCS National Championship in South Florida! Alabama and Notre Dame will kick-off at 7:30 with the game being televised on ESPN. As we get the dips and BBQ ready, here are facts about the game collected by Mark Inabinett of al.com:

1 Team that has reached the BCS national championship game after being unranked in the AP preseason poll -- Notre Dame this season. The most recent team to begin a season unranked and finish atop one of the major postseason polls is BYU in 1984.

1 More bowl loss than bowl victory for Notre Dame, which has a 15-16 bowl record. Due to school policy, the Fighting Irish did not participate in bowls between a 27-10 victory by Knute Rockne's Four Horsemen over Stanford in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 1925, and a 21-17 loss to Texas in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1, 1970.

1 Victory in six previous games against Notre Dame for Alabama. The Crimson Tide defeated the Fighting Irish 28-10 at Legion Field on Oct. 4, 1986.
