Something happened today that I totally did not expect, being awarded a 1st place medal. It's something that has never happened before.

The race was the GVI Spring Fling 10K with an interesting course through Historic Downtown Tuscaloosa. The weather was perfect too, cloudy and cool with a few sprinkles. It's my first time running this race which comes one week after the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon. Call it the half of a half marathon with a distance of 6.2 miles. What's really crazy, I almost didn't go. Yeah, I went out for a couple of drinks last night and went to bed late. This morning, I totally thought about sleeping in, but rolled out of bed and headed downtown.

The other shocking thing for me with placing 1st in my age group is the fact there is this other guy who always wins. That would be Drew and the guy is a speed demon! So, did I beat him today? Haha! No. Maybe one day, but not today. Well, Drew finished 2nd overall in the 10K. Since he place there, he doesn't get to double up with an award in the age division. The funny thing about it, around his neck #2 and my neck #1. So, for this brief moment in time, I joked about having the better finish (based on the medal). Take that! Too funny.
