Philly Boyz on the Tuscaloosa Strip to Permanently Close
A restaurant on the Tuscaloosa Strip will permanently close after this week, a source familiar with the situation said Monday afternoon.
Philly Boyz, which opened in the former Tut's location on University Boulevard in 2017, will serve their last sandwiches this Saturday, June 20th, the person said.
The closure will also affect Lucy's Old Country Cooking, the meat-and-three "ghost restaurant" that opened in 2019 and operated out of the Philly Boyz kitchen.
The building that housed the eateries is owned by Roar, LLC, a subsidiary of College Station Properties, who did not return a request for comment whether they have identified a future tenant for the space Monday.
We will miss Philly Boyz and the Amoroso rolls they imported to create a faithful cheesesteak sandwich in Tuscaloosa -- almost 1,000 miles away from the City of Brotherly Love.
Stay tuned to this site and station for more information on the fate of that stretch of the Strip as it becomes available.
