PARA To Offer Four New Specialty Camps This Summer
If you need some activities to keep your kids busy this summer, Tuscaloosa County Parks & Recreation Authority has you covered.
This spring has looked very different than those of the past. It's no doubt that this summer will look different as well. PARAkids Summer Camp will still be offered this year with PARA. In addition to that, PARA will offer four specialty camps for children this summer. Four specialty programs will be offered to allow campers to learn more about themselves, their environment, and their culture. The four camps will be Outdoor Adventure/Hands-On Nature, Sports: Tennis, Golf, Soccer and Swim, Hands-On Tuscaloosa: Arts & Culture, and STEAM Discovery/Hands-On Science. This makes me so happy to hear. I love the idea of exposing children to a variety of sports, skills, and activities at an early age. There are so many kids who probably would've loved to play tennis, golf. We could add Marine Biologist and food truck owner to that list as well. The issue is that many children didn't grow up with the privilege of being exposed to those things. I can see these programs changing the lives of children and this community as a whole for the better. These camps are organized by age with a maximum of 15 participants in three-day programs for 4-8 graders and two-day programs for K-3 graders. Below are the dates for each camp from an official PARA press release:
- June 22-27 Outdoor Adventure/Hands-On Nature CampHiking, camping and outdoor skills, archery, farm-to-table
- July 13-17 Sports: Tennis, Golf, Soccer and Swim Camp Featuring instruction with pros at Tuscaloosa Tennis Center, Ol’ Colony Golf, and with soccer and swim coaches
- July 27-31 Hands on Tuscaloosa: Arts & Culture Camp Urban hikes, Civil Rights Trail, Monster Art scavenger hunt, BAMA Theatre tour and local food trucks
- August 10-14 STEAM Discovery/Hand-On Science Camp Aquatic ecology, environmental education and math and engineering challenges
