I hope y'all had a wonderful Father's Day weekend. I thought I'd mark the occasion by sharing a hilarious story. My Dad currently holds the world record for pranking gullible kids, so let me tell you how he earned the title.

The year was 1991. I was seven years old. Dad was working for Eckerd Drugs, and he received some sort of bonus check. My parents decided to use the cash to pay for a trip to the beach.

I was a kid so I had no idea what a bonus was--I didn't really know much about money either, except that my great-grandmother would put a $5 bill and gum in my birthday cards and it was AWESOME. But I digress...

Extreme's "More Than Words" was topping the charts. It was on the radio ALL THE TIME. My dad thought it would be hilarious to tell us he wrote the song. My sisters and I believed him without a single doubt.

I seriously thought my dad wrote "More Than Words" for like three years. I told people at school about it. I was soooo proud.

I eventually figured out that my pops had not been penning power ballads for a Massachusetts metal band. My sisters and I still laugh about our dad's epic pranking abilities, and to this day I smile every time I hear this song...

I didn't get to see my dad yesterday; he was working. He's always been able to make me laugh regardless of the situation, and he's been there for me every time I needed him--even when I was a spoiled teenage pain-in-the-butt. He taught me so much about life, and he's one of those rare people in life that lead by example. The world is a crazy place, but my dad is constant. He's kind, caring, capable, hilarious, and wise. I am so lucky to have him as my father. (I love you, Dad!)
