The AP is reporting the FAA has said a large UPS Cargo plane has crashed on approach to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Airport. All roads around the airport have been closed, and ABC 33/40 reports two fatalities from the crash.

The crash site is in a field; not aware of any homes impacted, or injuries on the ground at this point.

UPS has released the following statement about this morning's crash:

UPS has been notified of an aircraft incident involving Flight 1354, an Airbus A300 flying from Louisville, KY to Birmingham, AL.

 At this time, we are still determining the details of the incident. We will release more information as it becomes available. As we work through this difficult situation, we ask for your patience, and that you keep those involved in your thoughts and prayers.
