It was only a matter of time until we heard a reaction from Katherine Webb, the girlfriend of Alabama QB AJ McCarron, about her newfound fame originating from Monday's BCS National Championship broadcast on ESPN. A game which early on Alabama made its statment of having total control and had all signs of being a blow out, in just the first quarter. You know the ESPN announcers prepare for this and turn to other storylines to hold viewer interest. It just happens to be that the QB's girlfriend became that storyline. However, it wasn't just announcing she's the girlfriend, it's the way Brent Musburger and Kurt Herbstreit got carried away with her looks as Musburger said, "you quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women. What a beautiful woman … If you’re a youngster in Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop.”

ESPN issued an apology on Tuesday, "We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."

During Wednesday's interviews, Katherine Webb commented on Musburger by saying, “I think the media has been very unfair to him… he said we were beautiful and gorgeous … anyone would be flattered by that.”
