Welcome to the last B101.7 Flashback Friday Spotlight for May! This week we look back on a song that doesn't really sound like something that came out in the late 80s. It actually sounds more like something out the Alternative 90s music era, due to its progressive folk sound.

The spotlight song is "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers. The group is made up of Scottish identical twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reed. As for the song, it was originally released and became a hit song in 1988, as it peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. A few years later in 1993, the song reemerged in popularity after being featured on the Benny & Joon Soundtrack. The song's video also features numerous clips from this movie.

More recently the catchy stomp and sing along song was featured in the movies Bachelorette and Identity Thief.
