Flashback Friday Spotlight on the King’s Most Popular Love Song

We're celebrating Elvis' birthday on this B101.7 Flashback Friday for January 8th with the spotlight on his most popular and famous love song.

Elvis debut his song '(I Can't Help) Falling In Love' with his 1961 movie Blue Hawaii. The demo of the song written by George Weiss didn't initially win over movie producers or Elvis' people. But, he did and pushed to record it for the movie. A wise move.

The song would go on to be staple to close out Elvis' concerts. Yet, in the movie Blue Hawaii it wasn't sung to his love interest, rather to his grandmother on her birthday. How fitting, on his birthday we are featuring the song.

'(I Can't Help) Falling In Love' has withstood the test of time, as many artists through the years have covered the tune. The list includes UB40, who hit #1 on the pop chart with their version in 1993.
