Flashback Friday: Semisonic ‘Closing Time’

It's homecoming weekend for UA and the inspiration for this week's spotlight.  It's the time of year for excited alumni to roll back into town to remember the glory years and soak in all of annual festivities.

The stories shared always include stuff that happened on those late nights around town.  The bar memories of it getting late and trying to pick up that girl who remarkably begins to look more and more attractive.

The spotlight song captures those late nights in such a vivid way.  'You don't have to go home, but you have to get out of here.'  That cliche line is still used by bands and dj's to this day.

Well before FUN. releasing their anthem 'We Are Young,' the band Semisonic released 'Closing Time.'  One of the all time great one-hit wonders of our time.

'Closing Time' peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 on August 8th in 1998.  The video is posted below.
