The 'Big Game' weekend is here! This Flashback Friday Spotlight is on alternative rock legends, Red Hot Chili Peppers! Bruno Mars who will be performing during halftime has invited these guys to join him on stage! How awesome will that be?

Let's flashback to 1992 when Red Hot Chili Peppers released the really cool and oh so dark song, "Under The Bridge." It was the second single of the album Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic.

Wikipedia shares notes about the song:

Vocalist Anthony Kiedis wrote the lyrics to express a feeling of loneliness and despondency, and to reflect on narcotics and their impact on his life. Kiedis initially did not feel "Under the Bridge" would fit into the Chili Peppers' repertoire and was reluctant to show it to his band mates until producer Rick Rubin implored him to do so. The rest of the band was receptive to the lyrics and wrote the music.

There is no denying the impact this song had for not only the band, but the emerging popularity of alternative music in the 90s.
