Wind Advisory and Freeze Warning Issued For Portions Of Alabama
There is a Wind Advisory and Freeze Warning that has been issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham for many west Alabama counties.
The Wind Advisory will be in effect from 10 pm Friday night until 6 am Saturday morning. There is also a Freeze Warning in effect from Midnight until 10 am Sunday morning. The following counties are included in both:
Bibb
Fayette
Greene
Hale
Lamar
Pickens
Shelby
Sumter
Tuscaloosa
Walker
The NWS notes that for the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 23 on Saturday morning and 17 on Sunday morning are expected. For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected.
According to the NWS, gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
