Adopt a Furry Friend at a Discount in Tuscaloosa, Alabama This Week
The Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter will host the #BissellPetFoundation Empty the Shelters Adoption Event from noon to 5 p.m. on July 7 and during normal hours through July 10.
This event is for adoptions only and TMAS hopes to provide homes to their many dogs and cats.
Adoption fees are only $10. Usually, fees can reach $100 or more, so folks on the fence about getting a new pet will not want to miss out on this special.
According to the Bissell Pet Foundation, over 186 shelters throughout 45 different states are participating in this adoption event, decreasing fees to $25 or lower.
"It’s the perfect time to adopt. So many wonderful pets are waiting for homes, and we’re sure you’ll find the pet of your dreams. Don’t miss this great opportunity to bring a pet into your family, and most importantly, save a life," the foundation's website stated.
At Metro, there is always an animal that needs a home and the unconditional love that an owner can provide. Empty the Shelter events offer the perfect opportunity to add a member to the family.
If adoption is not in the perceivable future, there are still ways to help animals at TMAS without the long commitment of adopting.
TMAS encourages donations and volunteering opportunities within the community. Currently, they are in need of the following items:
- Dog treats
- Harnesses
- Bleach
- Laundry detergent
- Wet kitchen food
- Miracle nipples
- Syringes
- Muffin pans
"Being a Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter volunteer is extremely rewarding, educational, and fun. You can have a significant positive impact on the lives of homeless animals. Walking a dog, cuddling a cat, giving a treat or blanket, or giving a simple pat on the head will touch your heart and bring you back for more," TMAS wrote on its website.
