The Arc of Tuscaloosa Hosts Witches Ride
It seems like Halloween candy and decor started hitting store shelves as soon as the Back to School season was over... And in some places it overlapped. Anyone who has any type of service or merchandise pertaining to the day has already begun making their presence known.
The Arc of Tuscaloosa has yard signs on display across the city, advertising its T-Town Witches Ride.
This event will take place at Government Plaza on Sunday, October 12. Here's what the organization's website says about the event:
Imagine a scene straight out of the Wizard of Oz with hundreds of Tuscaloosa women bewitchingly dressed in their most creative witch costumes. Tuscaloosa will continue our whimsical Halloween tradition with our local W.I.T.C.H’s (Women In Total Control Here) “flying” through the streets of downtown to raise money for The Arc of Tuscaloosa County and the 300+ individuals it serves in our community.
The witches will fly on their decorative “broomcycles” through downtown Sunday, October 13, 2019 for the second annual T-Town Witches Ride. This year we will add a “Cat Walk” for our non-riding witches and their children.
The two mile bicycle ride and the one mile Cat Walk will begin and end at Government Plaza where we will celebrate with a Black Cat Block Party! There will be entertainment, kids zone, prizes and awards for our winners. Awards will be given out for the Best Dressed Witch, Best Broomcycle, Best Group Theme, and Best Dressed Child with prizes donated by local businesses.
Women 18 years of age and older are invited to participate and family and friends of all ages are encouraged to line the sidewalks to view the parade of witches flying through downtown.
Registration is $25 and participants are encouraged to pre-register online or may register in person at The Arc of Tuscaloosa County. Registration and packet pick-up will begin at 3:00 pm at Government Plaza and the ride will begin promptly at 5:00 pm on October 13th. There will be a Pre-Party sponsored by Moe’s Original BBQ and Heat Pizza. Tickets are $25 and include food, beer and wine.
Horror theme aside, it sounds like lots of fun. Be sure to get your tickets!
