Deandre Dixon,  a Manager at Spades Restaurant & Lounge spoke on the reason behind this spring break event, "We just wanted to give back to the community that's been giving to us since we've opened up our doors."

Along with free food and activities, many community resources in the area were onsite at the event.

"A few of our vendors today are the Area Agency on Aging, Whatley Health Services, Tuscaloosa Housing Authority, 19 Delta Express Transportation, Miss Queen Ester's Painting, K&A Celebrations, Erica Grant from the Tuscaloosa Board of Education, and many more." Said Dixon.

Dixon also spoke on the possibility of doing more events like this in the future for the Tuscaloosa community.

"This is just the beginning," said Dixon.

"What we plan on doing is another in the spring, and another in the summer as well as back to school to give out things to kids before they go back to school."

According to a post from Stillman College, the event hosted over 300 students and parents, including the spring break groups from the Benjamin Barnes YMCA, and Trinity Childcare and Learning Center.
