Quinnen Williams Suffers Foot Injury Ahead of OTAs

Former Alabama and now New York Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams has suffered a broken bone in his foot. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Williams will face a surgery that will keep him out of action for 8-10 weeks.

Mike Garafolo, also of NFL Network reports that Williams was doing on-field work in the Jets facility when he injured himself. Williams will likely miss OTAs (organized team activities) due to the injury but should be available to Gang Green for the start of training camp.

While the injury and pending surgery serve as a downer for Williams and the Jets, he does have good news also that the loveable defensive lineman can celebrate. Williams recently tied the knot with his fiancé Maranda. His wife is successful in her own right, running an online fashion boutique featuring clothes, sunglasses and hair accessories.

The Birmingham native was drafted with the third overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. In two seasons, Williams has accumulated 83 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, with 20 quarterback hits and 9.5 sacks in 26 games.

While with the Crimson Tide Williams won the Outland Trophy as the nations best interior lineman in 2018 while also being an unanimous All-American.

Williams broke out in 2020 with seven sacks and 10 tackles for loss, recovering from his foot injury will be paramount to continuing to build off the momentum of last season. With a strong 2021 season the New York Jets could opt to pick up Williams's fifth-year option and look to look him into a long-term contract.
