CJ Mosely Eager to Return to Game Action For New York Jets
It has been almost two years since CJ Mosley has played in an NFL game, but the former Alabama linebacker is ready to make an impact for the New York Jets this season.
“I’m just excited to still have this opportunity,” Mosley said. “This sport isn’t given. Life isn’t given, so I’m not taking anything for granted…I feel like I’m 100 percent. I’m ready to go. That’s what it’s all about.”
Since being drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens, Mosley has been a four-time Pro Bowl and Second-team All-Pro selection. He is returning to action for the first time since Week 6 of the 2019 season after opting out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mosely showed up at Jets training camp noticeably lighter than he has been throughout his professional career. “I weighed in around 231 last week,” Mosley told reporters at Jets training camp on Tuesday. “I probably haven’t been that since I got to the NFL, like my senior year of college. I think my speed probably should be like a 95-plus when Madden comes back out. But I gotta put good film on tape.”
The 29-year old linebacker inked a five-year, $85 million deal with the Jets on March 15, 2019, but has only appeared in two games since then. Mosley is eager to return to game action this season. "I'm ready to put some new film on tape,” Mosely said.
The Jets will play their first preseason game, Saturday, Aug. 14 against the New York Giants.
