I've found the secret to bigger, brighter eyes--and it's so easy you won't believe it! I have tried a bajillion eye shadows, eye liners, eye lashes, and mascaras in an attempt to brighten up my look. I spend pretty much all my time chasing after my toddler and what precious time I do have all to myself is usually spent knee-deep in Ben and Jerry's and a Law and Order:SVU Marathon. Like I have time to figure out how to look pretty. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Anyway...

A friend recently clued me into this simple trick to brightening your eyes: use a highlighter on the inner corners of your eyes. Use a light or shimmering shadow in the inner corner to really make your eyes pop.

But not literally pop. That would be gross. Check out the pic below for a guide--the arrows show where I place my highlight shade (in the pic, I was rocking gold shadow, so I used it as my highlight, too). I don't have any lipstick on, but whatever. Also, I took the pic in my bathroom, and you can see a towel hanging on the shower curtain because your girl keeps it classy.

Grab that highlighter and gently apply to the inner corner of your eyes. I often use my highlight shade to line my lower lids like 1/3 of the way in, too. You can use whatever highlight color you want--but remember that darker colors can really close this area off and give the illusion of a smaller eye. You can use darker colors and liners when you're going for a sexy smokey eye, but that's another tutorial for another day.

Try out this simple and easy trick this spring to brighten up your eyes. I'm pretty sure you'll look awesome. What's the ladylike version of a fistbump? Let's do one now. Yeah! Makeup stuff! Excellent! Party Time!
