2023 is only a couple weeks away from ending, and it's time to get ready to celebrate the new year!

New Year's Eve

WalletHub has curated a list of the best cities to celebrate the new year. Here are there top three:

  1. Orlando, Florida
  2. San Diego, California
  3. New York, New York

But Alabama made the list, too! Birmingham landed in the top twenty at number nineteen. Here are some of the ways that the Iron City will be ringing in the new year:

'24 Karat New Year's Eve

Starting from Friday, December 29 to New Year’s Day, there is a ’24 Karat Gold Rush New Year Weekend party hosted by The Fennec, Innisfree, and Moe’s BBQ. Their Eventbrite website invites people to “indulge in a night of non-stop dancing, as each venue will have talented DJs and live entertainment every single night.”

The event is selling limited wristbands for $50 which will grant fast-pass entries for all three locations. More information can be found on the event's website page.

Glow Wild at the Birmingham Zoo

The Birmingham Zoo is featuring some brilliant light displays that are fun for the whole family! The zoo described the event as "larger-than-life, jaw-dropping wild animal and sea life lantern creations brilliantly lighting up the night!"

On New Year's Eve, the Birmingham Zoo will have their location open from 5-9 p.m. Get tickets on the zoo's website.

Birmingham is not the only city that is partying for the new year. Hotel Indigo in Tuscaloosa is hosting its Champagne Carnival on New Year’s Eve.

Champagne Carnival

Located on their rooftop, Hotel Indigo will feature champagne bundles, a menu of snacks, magicians, and more. There will also be a fireworks show, of course!

The price for the event ranges from $30 to $50. For more information about the Carnival, visit the Eventbrite website.

Whether you're attending one of these events, or celebrating privately with friends, make sure to start your year off right! Let's go 2024!
