Northport has had its share of controversies in the last year. It started with all of the fervor and anger, in some cases, over the waterpark plans.

That whole idea led to a shake-up on the Northport City Council that is still reverberating through the community one of the other issues involved the Northport Community Center and its operational plans.

Get ready for live music and line dancing at the Northport Community Center in a recent interview on 95.3 The Bear radio, city businessmen/leaders appeared on the Steve and DC show to reveal an agenda that will bring live music and dancing to the Northport community Center every week in 2024.

It was just a few months ago that our own Tuscaloosa Thread reported on the battle to save the Northport community center from plans for residential and retail development.
As the thread reported, the development and the City Council’s handling of the project was the catalyst for an outcry of outrage from residents in Northport.
Just a couple of weeks ago city leaders gathered on 15 April and had a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the newly enhanced community center at 2100 Park St.

Live music is a welcome addition in Northport and let’s hope this is the first of many great family and fun events at the Northport community center in the future.
