How Long Can We Keep Eating Thanksgiving Leftovers Before They Go Bad?
Like many offices and workplaces, this past Tuesday, we had our Thanksgiving Lunch here at Townsquare Media. The Lunch was held at around 11:30a, and I didn't get to work until later that afternoon. However, the Food, (for the most part), was properly refrigerated, and I was able to make myself a plate, and partake in the FEAST at around 5:30p, (6 hours later, no worries).
Then on Wednesday, there was still plenty of food in the work fridge, so I repeated the process, and made myself a 2nd Plate. Since everything was only a day old, and refrigerated, I figured that I would be ok. (And I was, because after nuking everything in the microwave, the food came out tasting GREAT again).
Now, it's Friday, (I had the day off yesterday, so I was able to eat some FRESH Thanksgiving Day food at the house), and there's STILL some Food in the Fridge. The Question is: Am I OK Making Myself A Plate 3 Days Later? Or Do I RiskThe Chance Of Getting Some Food Poisoning?
This is a difficult decision to make, because I'm REALLY hungry, but at the same time, I don't want to contact a bad case of Botulism! What I want to know is: How Long Are Holiday Leftovers Good For? (At 3 days after, I'm probably walking a dangerous line right now).
Do I say "No"? or Do I throw caution to the wind and say "Yes"?
I can't decide, so I'll flip a coin here, "Heads" I eat, "Tails" I sit this one out. Here Goes........It's HEADS!
I let you know how this turns out. But if you happen to listen to my show this weekend, and happen to hear some "Dead Air", there's a good chance that I'm getting reacquainted with my old pal, "Sal Monella!"
Happy Thanksgiving!
