DeVonta Smith Fired on Off Day According To His Tweet
Say it ain't so! Devonta Smith is no longer part of the Philadelphia Eagles football team?!
Former University of Alabama receiver Devonta Smith has had a heck of a rookie season in the NFL.
After being drafted 10th overall by the Eagles in 2021, Smith finished his rookie season with a total of 64 receptions, 5 touchdowns, and close to 1,000 yards! After such a productive rookie season, how would any team want to get rid of him?
In just one season, Smitty put up some amazing catching and highlights. Do you remember this wild play against the Broncos?
He's shared moments with former Alabama teammates like Henry Ruggs III in this post-game moment.
Smith even had to hilariously check a teammate this season. After being questioned by teammate Greg Ward, Smitty had to set the record straight in this clip below.
After such a great season, I really was thinking of becoming a temporary Eagles fan just to support Devonta Smith. That was until I saw a tweet on his account saying he "got fired on his day off."
What?!
Could the Eagles be that irrational that they'd let Devonta Smith go? Can't be!
This all stemmed from an error on a jumbotron during a Philidelphia 76ers' playoff game. Smith was sitting courtside at the Wells Fargo Center watching the 76ers' take on the Miami Heat.
The error labeled Smith as a former member of the Eagles. It turns out, that Smitty is still part of the Eagles team. we can look forward to plenty more highlights next year.
