Sam Smith is going for the sweep of all 4 major Grammy categories Sunday night. Who was the last to do this? Find out with the B101.7 Flashback Friday Spotlight driven by Townsend Honda!

Sam Smith, the amazing talent the critics call the male Adele, leads the way this year with 6 Grammy nominations. This includes the top 4. Best new artist, record and song of the year, and album of the year. A huge accomplishment in itself, even bigger to sweep with wins. That doesn't happen much. In 2013 fun. came up short with 3 out of 4. Back in 2008, Amy Winehouse came up one short, with 3 out of 4 wins. You have to go all the way back to 1981 to find the last artist to sweep.

Any ideas on who? It was Christopher Cross. Don't confuse this guy with the hip-hop duo Kris Kross. Ah, but do you remember that 1992 jam, 'Jump'? Instead, Christopher Cross had the mellow soft rock hit, 'Sailing.' It was so big, that it helped the guy sweep the Grammys in 1981. The last to do it.

Now, it sure does sound like the spotlight song is 'Sailing.' But, could you imaging me playing that song on B101.7 at 5 p.m. on a Friday. People would drive into ditches and protesters would be at our door with fire torches! Okay, maybe not to that extreme. Still, I'm going to go with something much more recent to recognize a talent gone far too soon.

The spotlight shines on the late Amy Winehouse who scored 3 out of 4 Grammys in 2008 fueled by the breakout soul pop hit 'Rehab.' She landed best new artist, along with song and record of the year. See the video below.

Let's go ahead and dig back to the early 80s and pull up that 'Sailing' video from Christopher Cross. It's below.

Now that you're falling asleep, it's time to 'Jump' with Kris Kross!
