The Alabama gymnastics team gets a couple days off from competition before traveling to Seattle for the NCAA Gymnastics Regionals. A few gymnasts suffered injuries this season, so hopefully the break from competition allows time for recovery.

Makarri Doggette injured herself during her floor routine against Georgia which limited her to the uneven bars since then. Doggette only missed the LSU meet because of her injury.

Sania Mitchell tore her Achilles in warmups at the SEC Championship. Duckworth said she had surgery Wednesday for her Achilles rupture. With regionals and potentially nationals being the only competitions left, Mitchell, a senior, most likely performed her last Alabama floor routine at Elevate the Stage.

Luisa Blanco injured her ankle at the SEC Championship meet. Head coach Dana Duckworth said that her injury is day to day, but the training staff will do everything they can to have her ready for regionals.

Injuries didn't keep Blanco or Doggette out of the All-SEC gymnastics team however. The team was announced Wednesday and featured Shania Adams along with Blanco and Doggette. Lilly Hudson made the All-SEC Freshman team after winning SEC Freshman of the Week three times this season.

Alabama is no stranger to the NCAA Regional meets as the Tide has competed in every regional round since 1982 with the exception of 2020 due to COVID-19.  The Crimson Tide also holds the NCAA record for the most regional team titles with 32, according to rolltide.com.

The Crimson Tide hopes to continue their regional success in Seattle. Alabama competes on March 31 as the No. 2 seed in the first of two semi-final sessions. The team faces Michigan State, BYU and Washington.
