Although the roads improved around Tuscaloosa on Wednesday, some roads remain closed due to hazards. Plus, tonight ice will become an issue on wet roads as the temp drops down to 15.
CLOSINGS FOR THURSDAY
Area schools have announced closings for Thursday January 30th, 2014 due to travel hazards from ice roadways. The winter storm which which made roadways impassable are improving, but still safety concerns exist through Thursday.

The forecast called for only a few snowflakes and possibly a dusting of accumulation on grassy areas. There wasn't supposed to be any problems on the roadways. It was going to be issue south of us in places like Montgomery and even coastal locations like Mobile. That was the word, even early this morning. Then, it changed.

Artic air invades the Tuscaloosa, Alabama area following an unexpected winter storm with accumulating snow. The National Weather Service office in Birmingham has issued a Hard Freeze Warning for the entire listening area around West Alabama through 9am on Wednesday. The low tonight will barely be double digits as the temp dips to around 10.

Area businesses and schools have announced delays as we anticipate some arctic cold air and a good chance of some precipitation that could make for hazardous commuting Monday and Tuesday.
