‘South Park’ Dropped First Uncensored F-Bomb With ‘Oh, Jeez’
South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker had some understandable frustration with reworking Wednesday’s “The Very First Gentleman” into “Oh, Jeez” after the election; so much so, that they made history of their own in the process. The revamped episode apparently featured the series’ first uncensored F-bomb in the initial broadcast.
Among the many details altered for the episode, which original was to feature Bill Clinton becoming the “First Gentleman” of the United States, The Hollywood Reporter notes that “Oh, Jeez” featured uncensored use of the F-word for the first time in a 10:00 P.M. airing (h/t UPROXX):
The episode marked the first time in the show’s 20 seasons that the F-word was not bleeped during an early time-slot showing, according to Comedy Central.
Usually, the only time that word is not bleeped is during late-night airings and on Hulu. However, it was said once, uncensored by Mr. Garrison on Wednesday. It was bleeped afterward in the remainder of the episode.
Of course, South Park has famously pushed censorship boundaries over the year, including an entire 2001 episode that used the S-word upwards of 160 times. The rare pushback South Park has gotten were episodes intended to depict the prophet Muhammad, which were censored by Comedy Central, and have not aired in their original form to this day.
In the meantime, South Park Season 20 may face additional tweaks in the wake of the election, but will otherwise continue next week.
