Unseasonably warm temperatures tomorrow will set the stage for a potential severe weather threat Wednesday in West Alabama.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, severe storms are likely overnight Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The primary threat at this time is projected to be damaging straight-line winds; however, the possibility of isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Make sure you and your family are prepared for Wednesday's severe storms. I always make sure that I have a flashlight and a battery-powered radio in our "safe space" before a storm hits. I also double-check that my cell phone stays charged in advance of any passing storm system, and--most importantly--I make sure I have a way to stay informed on any watches or warnings issued for our area. Since this system is projected to arrive overnight/early morning, it's a good idea to have a NOAA weather radio on hand--double-check those batteries, too.

We'll keep you up to date with forecasts from ABC 33/40 Chief Meteorologist James Spann, and in the event of any issued tornado warnings, we'll have live coverage from the ABC 33/40 weather crew to keep you and your family informed.
