Severe Storms Cause Damage Across West Alabama
Severe storms have impacted the South this afternoon and through the evening hours. Several severe storms produced tornadic circulation, and many more storms caused damage from straight-line winds.
A Tornado Warning was in effect for the northwestern portion of Tuscaloosa County earlier this evening. We continue to monitor for the latest damage reports.
Storms also caused damage in portions of Tuscaloosa and Northport, as heavy winds, lightning, and rainfall passed through many counties in West Alabama as well.
Alabama Power reports close to 50,000 without power across the state.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight for much of our listening area.
