Nick Saban is officially the king of college football after winning his seventh national championship on Monday night. His Alabama Crimson Tide teams have been in the championship game eight times in the last 12 years and Saban's come away victorious six times. To further highlight his dominance over the sport, Saban became the first college football coach to earn $10 million in a single season according to Darren Rovell of the Action Network.

According to the USA TODAY NCAA Coach's Database, Nick Saban's base salary for 2020 is $9.3 million, making him the highest paid head coach in college football just ahead of LSU's Ed Orgeron.

After earning bonuses for winning SEC Coach of the Year, the SEC Championship, a New Year's Six Bowl appearance and the CFP National Championship Game win Saban's bonuses will amount to $950,000.

The Crimson Tide navigated a difficult season with unique challenges on and off the field and the team overcame numerous obstacles en route to the program's 18th national championship.

Saban's second undefeated season at Alabama saw the team unify to overcome the challenges that COVID-19 brought upon athletic programs everywhere, his team lost its most electric player, Jaylen Waddle, and its most spirited leader in Landon Dickerson but still persevered. Alabama became the first team to win 11 SEC games in a single season as schedules were altered due to the pandemic. Saban even battled COVID-19 on a personal level causing him to coach remotely and miss the Iron Bowl.

It's safe to say with all the challenges the team overcame in 2020 that Saban earned every penny of his healthy salary this season.
