I am 30 years old, and there is still something I cannot do--no matter how hard I try, I always, always fail. As a woman, this is a great source of shame for me, and I need to know I am not the only one. Here's my embarrassing secret; y'all ready?

My name is Meg, and I can't give myself a manicure. I can paint my nails just fine--I use those pointy-ended Q-Tips and Acetone to wipe away any stray paint. The result is flawless. I'll slap on a clear coat and then...

NAIL FAIL.

Every. Single. Time. I will wait for the polish to dry and one of two things happens: a) I didn't wait long enough and the polish smears or b) I wait forever and a day only to chip my manicured nails mere minutes later. It's like I am incapable of being an adult female.

I spent 30 minutes on my nails last night. I used two coats of this Deborah Lippman polish with which I am OBSESSED for fall (I got it as part of Sephora's Glitz & Glam set, which is super cute & you can check it out HERE) and my Sally Hansen Quick-Dry Top Coat. I didn't move or touch anything for a solid half-hour after laying that paint down, okay? I wanted my nails to look awesome.

I thought, This is it, Meg. This is the time you finally execute a flawless manicure. Your nails are going to look great. My nails dried, and about ten minutes later I went to brush my hair and do my nightly skincare routine. I was about to turn out the bathroom light when I saw it...

My left thumbnail had started to peel. Like an idiot, I messed with it more and more until all the polish on the nail peeled off in one piece. Kind of cool, really--but NO MORE MANICURE FOR ME. I was too tired to paint the nail again so I am rocking a bare thumbnail today.

the struggle is real #ruinedmani #WHYYYYYYYYY

Am I the only person who is totally incapable of an at-home manicure? Please tell me your nail fail tales; I need to know I am not alone in this.

Also--share the name and number of your fave nail tech because this weekend I am throwing in the towel and going acrylic.
