Alt 101.7 and Pepsi have teamed up to present Metal Monday! This week we're featuring the amazing... TOOL!

Formed in Los Angeles in 1989, Tool released their first full-length album, Undertow in 1993 and have been shocking the world with some of the most incredible metal ever since!

I was lucky enough to see them on their first tour in 1992 at Lollapalooza in New Orleans. Tool followed Rage Against the Machine and you just imagine how most blowing that was! I remember lead vocalist Maynard James Keenan crouching down as he sang, almost with his chest to the ground. Drummer Danny Carey had his drumkit turned backwards with tons of mirrors in front of him to see the crowd. The way I listened to music changed a little bit that day. I had no idea how much Tool's music would have a hold on my life over the next few years!

In 1996, they again blew minds when they released Ænima! My favorite Tool album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its initial release, selling 148,000 copies in its first week! It was certified triple platinum by the RIAA on March 4, 2003. The album appeared on several lists of the best albums of 1996, including that of Kerrang! and Terrorizer.

Then came three more records, Maynard formed and toured with A Perfect Circle and Pucifer, and continued to change the metal landscape for good.

Let me also say, Danny Carey is one of the best drummers of all time! The proof is in this video. Done!
