When Birmingham musician Early James recently played a show an hour away in Columbus, MS, he sat down for an episode of the Porch Talk Podcast.

I usually join my buddy Alan Aldridge for his podcast Porch Talk on a segment we call 'Untapped & Vinyl'. When RCA recording artist Early James stopped by on the same night, we included him!

Fans of the show will note that on this occasion, it's not so much about the beer sampling but more about the music. The three of us were also joined by James' mandolin/pedal steel player Ford Boswell and Birmingham artist Cammie Windley. You'll notice that the conversation shifts from music to randomness in rapid fashion. Touching on everything from Johnny Cash to guitar skills. A prime example of what happens when you have five personalities gathered around two microphones and encourage the intake of beer.

There is a solemn point, somewhere in the middle, when James takes a few minutes to describe his admiration for and reflect on his friendship with the late Justin Townes Earle. We all just sat silent and listened to this heartfelt train of thought.

After two and a half hours, we were done. Here are both segments for your listening pleasure!
