The woman killed and man injured during severe overnight storms in Marengo County have been identified as a husband and wife living in a manufactured home south of Demopolis.

Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa's news director Don Hartley reported Thursday that Anita Rembert was killed and her husband Curtis was injured when their mobile home was ripped from the ground during the storm. Hartley said the couple's children were also inside the home, but escaped injury. Rembert was a Demopolis City Schools substitute teacher, Hartley said.

John De Block, the Warnings Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Birmingham, told Hartley that winds in that area reached at at least 80 miles per hour, and said the NWS is working to determine if the destruction was caused by straight-line wind or a tornado.

De Block told Hartley he has never seen a storm rip all of a mobile home's groin anchors from the ground, but that was the scene first responders found in Marengo County Thursday.
