Another small business in the Tuscaloosa area has announced it is closing permanently in the wake of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and the widespread closures it caused.

The Levee Bar & Grill in Northport posted on Facebook Monday morning to announce that "due to recent unforeseen circumstances," the riverfront restaurant will permanently close.

The seafood and American fare restaurant opened on the banks of the Black Warrior River five years ago after a Wintzells Oyster House there closed for a relocation that never came to fruition.

In addition to being an all-around fantastic restaurant and the only place I've ever seen with complimentary hush puppies that just keep coming, the Levee was a blast to have at Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa's annual Bacon Brew & Que, and we'll miss seeing them if we're able to host it again this fall.

Their announcement follows a similar message from the Downtown Pub, who announced Monday that they will close after 27 years in business.
