As one of Alabama's two representatives at 2021 SEC Media Days, wide receiver John Metchie III, took to the stage to answer some questions about the upcoming season and his expectations for it.

Opening the round of questions, Metchie was asked plainly if he believed whether or not Texas A&M was a true contender in the SEC West to which he responded, "Definitely. I definitely think Texas A&M is a good team and I definitely think they will be good this year," he continued, "Playing at their stadium will be special. They have a great atmosphere there."

Though Texas A&M did finish last season strong and were even considered by many to be the fourth best team in the nation, in their matchup with Alabama, the Crimson Tide crushed the Aggies 52-24 behind an incredible 181 yard two touchdown performance from the wideout from Canada.

Metchie; opting to remain humble when further asked about how Texas A&M players reportedly viewed the outcome of the game, said, "I don't think we saw it the same way. I think we went in there with a game plan and executed it, and overall it was a pretty solid game."

Going into the 2021 season, Metchie enters his first year as the No. 1 wide receiver and has very high expectations. After an excellent 2020 in which he finished with 55 catches for 916 yards and six touchdowns, the third-year wideout is ready for the Crimson Tide's week one matchup with Miami, saying, "I'm most excited just to take the field with the guys. Knowing all the work we have put in at thus far and all the work we will put in going into camp, it will definitely be exciting to finally hit the field and get to play."

Asked about his new quarterback, Metchie gave high praise to the first-year signal caller, saying, "I'm definitely excited for Bryce. You kind of see that he has all the awareness out there and the tools, so I'm definitely excited to see him get comfortable in there and play his game." Speaking on his outlook for the Crimson Tide offense this year, Metchie said, "I expect us to be as dynamic if not more dynamic this season."

A player who has patiently waited for his turn to be a featured piece of the offense, Metchie has shown great skill and talent along the way. He is an extremely physical receiver that has proven his ability time and time again. Though Devonta Smith's legendary season will likely never be topped, the former four star has a great chance to have an excellent year.
