Most people wont recognize the name Jake Phelps or even recognize his face, but his impact will be known. Jake grew a small skateboard magazine into an iconic brand that you see on tee-shirts everyday. He started working for Thrasher Magazine in the early 1980's boxing merchandise then in 1993 was named the Editor-In-Chief.

Even before working at Thrasher he was a well known vert skater sponsored by Pepsi. Almost anything he said sounded poetic, raw, authentic and real. Without Jake, skating wouldn't be what it is today, he brought something new to the table, he gave us an intellectual side of skating with a touch of IDGAF attitude behind it.

A hundred years from now his name will be lost in time, but his impact in skating and hardcore writing will live on forever.
