Bama Theatre Hosting Costume Contest with $250+ in Prizes

The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa will host a night of Halloween-themed activities on Tuesday, October 24.

The event will feature a costume contest, trivia, and a screening of Bram Stoker's "Dracula." It will take place at the Bama Theatre, located on 600 Greensboro Avenue in downtown Tuscaloosa.

Schedule of Events:

• 6 p.m.: Doors and the Bama Bar open
• 6:30 p.m.: Trivia with Soapy Jones
• 7 p.m.: Adult Costume Contest
• Following Costume Contest: Screening of "Dracula"

A press release from the Arts Council noted that the event will celebrate the conclusion of their "Nostalgic Fall Blockbuster" movie series. The film series has included many classic spooky films like "Ghostbusters" and "Sleepy Hollow."

For the last night of the series, the Bama Bar will be serving a signature drink "The Vampire's Kiss," which is described as "a libation topped with vampire teeth."

The Arts Council said that trivia will have several prizes including "a VIP concession ticket, a Bama T-shirt, and other similar merchandise." The prizes continue with the costume contest which will distribute the following to winners:

• First Place: one free night at The Alamite + $100 Food Credit to Forté
• Second Place: $100 gift card to Central Mesa
• Third Place: $50 Gift Card to Avenue Pub

Even those who don't place in the top three can win: the Arts Council said "a discounted drink ticket to Nocturnal Tavern will be given to all those in costume." The movie screening will follow the costume contest.

Ticket Prices:

• $10 - General Admission
• $9 - Students and Seniors
• $8 - Arts Council members

Season passes are also available for $70, and are good for any ten films in any series. Tickets are available for purchase only at the Bama Theatre Box Office prior to the film.
