Alabama head coach and seven-time national champion Nick Saban is retiring from coaching.

For the first time since 2007, Alabama will be searching for a new head coach. Nick Saban was hired in 2007 by Mal Moore, and it was arguably the greatest hire in the history of the program.

Over a career that saw stops at Michigan State, LSU, and ending at Alabama, Nick Saban compiled a record of 274-67-1. He won 10 SEC championships and seven national championships across his career.

At Alabama, Saban won 183 games, eight SEC championships, and six national championships.

Brett McMurphy of Action Network reports that Oregon head coach Dan Lanning is the top target to replace Saban.

According to the transfer portal rules, Alabama players will now have 30 days to enter their names in the transfer portal.

As for the recruits Alabama signed, they are eligible to be released from their national letter of intent as long as they have not triggered their enrollment.

This story will be updated as more details are released.
