Welcome to to an all new series called, Inside Tuscaloosa Running!  We begin with... getting started, developing a schedule, and having fun!

The sport of running continues to grow in popularity in the area, and the demand for info continues to increase.  The time is right for us to connect with an expert, and tap his wealth of knowledge for all of us to learn from.

Starting this week, I'm joined by Tuscaloosa Track Club President, Ed Freeman.  This guy has done it all, from 5K races to marathons, including the prestigious Boston Marathon.

We decided to start on the ground level, for the beginner, someone who has been thinking about becoming a more active runner.

Ed Freeman says about how to get started, "like the Nike commercial says, 'Just Do It!'" There are so many benefits for not just your physical health, but for your mind too.

Is it possible to run too much? Yes, as Ed explains the biggest mistake runners from beginners to veterans make, "they don't give themselves enough time to recover."  The rule of thumb, don't run every day.  Take days off and come back with a hard and easy day system.

The warning flag Ed waves for those don't allow time to recover, "you're going to get sick, you're going to get injured and you're going to burn out."

Watch as Ed goes further into running benefits, getting started and understanding expectations.
