On a warm Monday night in Tuscaloosa, a large crowd gathered outside of Wagner's RunWalk. It was one week since the tragedy at the Boston Marathon and local runners came together to show support for Boston. It was a special moment to see so many people come out! A lot of big hearted people in Tuscaloosa. Quite a few fast little kids who tried to out run this old man. Ha!

Below is a photo of everyone gathered at the start line of the 2.62 miles course, which is one tenth the distance of a marathon. The course brought us through the Forest Lake area which was devastated by the April 27th tornado nearly two years to the date. It was such an unexpected merge of emotions when these events collided in my mind as I ran through the streets of recovery.

While running, I was able to see examples of Forest Lake coming back, such as this house being built.
