Austin Jones, a kicker who was with the Tide in 2018, is set to join the New Jersey Generals as they look to solve the kicking woes that have plagued them through the first four games of the young season.

Jones transferred to Alabama in his final collegiate season after graduating from Temple and spending four years as the Owls' kicker. In his lone season with the Tide, the Orlando native saw time in three contests, finishing the season 1-for-2 on field goals and 7-of-10 on PAT's.

As a member of the Temple Owls; however, Jones was the main option for all things kicking. From 2014-2017, Jones made 50-of-67 field goals as well as handling occasional kickoff duties on which he averaged nearly 60 yards per boot. After his four year career, Jones ranked as the fourth all-time scorer in program history.

The Generals' kicker through the first four games this season, Nick Rose, has made just 3-of-10 field goal attempts and has now been relegated to the inactive list due to his performance, leaving an opening for Jones.

Whether or not Jones can parlay his stint in the USFL into an NFL career is yet to be seen, but he will certainly provide the Generals with a sense of ease at a position that has been the cause of many headaches this season.
