Each year Tuscaloosa celebrates the LGBTQ+ community with having a Pride Week and Parade, unfortunately it will not be held at the usual Government Plaza location but will be held on their Facebook and social media accounts.

A letter from the organization was sent out :

To the West Alabama LGBTQ Community and Allies,

With great discernment we have decide to host our 2020 Druid City Pride Week, scheduled for October 4th, in a virtual capacity due to the covid 19 pandemic. the safety of our community, both the LGBTQ+ community and the West Alabama community, serve as our top priority.

We still plan to offer several engagement opportunities for all ages. Being virtual and socially distant allows us to widen our scope. You will see new engaging events during the DCP Pride Week and some old favorites, with a different look! We are developing the final details and will be announcing soon.

Things are different, life is different. However, rest assured that when we as a community return to full capacity, we will only be stronger.

Its a huge bummer that the community cannot come together to celebrate diversity and the common love of people together. But luckily Druid City Pride will be hosting come new and old events via Facebook Live and on other platforms. Let's look to the future and hope for a better one soon.
