Hillcrest High Holds Field Day In Honor Of Fallen Student
Thursday, April 7th, Hillcrest High School and the students of the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy collaborated to honor the legacy of Cameron Prince with a field day.
The Cameron Prince Legacy Field Day was held on the football field of Hillcrest High School and featured over a dozen sponsors and local vendors.
Tammy Hopson-Prince, the mother of Cameron Prince, spoke about what the event meant to her and her family. "This event was an uplift for my husband and I. The love, support and inspiration is more than an act of kindness. The Hillcrest family holds a special place in our hearts."
According to Hopson-Prince, the field day came about after the students of the Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy invited her to a meeting at the school and shared thoughts of having the field day to honor her son.
"The news was very overwhelming and heartfelt," said Hopson-Prince. "We shared tears during the meeting."
In the past, this event has been held to honor other families in the community who have lost their loved ones who were students at Hillcrest High School.
After the field day, Tammy Hopson-Prince announced the news of a new foundation in Cameron Prince's honor. "To continue the legacy of our son, Cameron Tyler Prince, we are establishing 'The Cameron Tyler Prince Legacy Foundation'."
The foundation will be a non-profit organization that awards students graduating next year.
"This foundation will award 2-3 students of the Class of 2023 with educational scholarships and assist with community outreach."
Hopson-Prince spoke about her appreciation for the support from Hillcrest high school. "We are and will be forever grateful for all the love and support of our Hillcrest Family."
