Bama vs. Ole Miss Pushed Back For Weather
The Alabama Crimson Tide and Ole Miss Rebels are set to face off this weekend in Oxford but the threat of severe weather looms over the game as Hurricane Delta is set to make landfall late in the week.
According to Thom Abraham of ESPN Radio, Ole Miss Coach Lane Kiffin has announced that the game will be pushed back from the original 5 p.m. start time. Kiffin said the game will be moved to "7:30 or so." The SEC just announced that the game will be held at 6:30 p.m. central time.
The SEC made the official announcement that the game will be held at 6:30 central time. It will still be aired on ESPN and you can still catch the entire gameday experience on Tide 100.9.
Both Nick Saban and Kiffin stated in their midweek press conferences that playing the game on Saturday was still the preferred option. The later start could allow for the most severe weather to dissipate in order for the players to play in a little more tolerable environment.
The other options for the programs to play was to play it on Friday, Sunday or later in the year, likely on Nov. 7 when the schools share a BYE week.
The SEC has already altered one game this weekend as the LSU Tigers are now travelling to Missouri instead of enjoying a home game in Baton Rouge.
The wet weather could set up a sloppy game this weekend for both sides with a focus on the running game. Alabama has averaged 114 yards per game on the ground so far this season. Ole Miss has given up a league high 603 rushing yards in two contests, it could set up favorably for the Alabama offensive line to make its mark on the game.
