You've probably heard that The Weather Folks are forecasting a "Wintery-Mix", which is expected to arrive sometime this Friday Morning and hang around through Saturday Morning. They are predicting accumulations of between 1 to 3 inches of show for our area. People are already flocking to the store to stock up on Milk, Bread, Eggs, and in some cases, (like at my Favorite Dollar General), Beer. Indeed, Snow in Alabama is always an EVENT. In fact, other parts of the country have accused us of "going overboard" when it comes to handling Winter Snow Events. Are they right in that assumption?  I say "NO".

As you may or may not know, I grew up in Joliet, IL. (35 Miles Southwest Of Chicago), I have lived through MAJOR Winter Blizzards, with of over a 15 inches of snow on the ground. Personally, I will be disappointed if THIS event doesn't leave AT LEAST a FOOT of snow on the ground. So, does that mean that THIS predicted event, in less than 48 hours, is less significant than a Northern Winter Blizzard? In my eyes, again I say "NO".

You see, what other parts of the country don't realize is, that down here in The South, we are simply not armed with the proper Snow Equipment & Crews, that other parts of the country posses. Therefore, an inch or two of snow on the ground here, is equal to 7 or 8 inches elsewhere. So, I say that ANY amount of Snow on the ground, (not to mention ICE), makes for hazardous road conditions and travel, which is why these Weather Forecasts should be paid close attention to.

Thus, feel free to stock up on all the Milk Bread,& Eggs, you need to survive Snowpalooza 2017. Remember that Big Noodle Lou is with you! But please make sure you leave me some Beer, ok? :-)
