Alabama sophomore quarterback Bryce Young has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week by the conference for his stellar week eight performance. The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Tennessee Volunteers 52-24 for the Tide's 15th consecutive win over the Vols and Young was an integral part of Alabama's efforts.

Young completed 31-of-43 passes for a career-high 371 yards on 72.1% completion with two touchdown passes to John Metchie III. Young also set a career high whilst scrambling, he ran for 56 yards and two additional touchdowns.

The Heisman Trophy favorite was particularly impressive on third down, he completed 9-of-13 passes on third down and was responsible for 12-of-Alabama's-15 third down conversions on the night, eight passing and four rushing.

Young has been nothing short of sensational for the Crimson Tide in his first season starting for the Crimson Tide. He's completed 187-of-267 passes for 2,453 yards with 26 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Young has shown his athleticism over the last few weeks escaping the pocket and has now brought his rushing total to 40 yards and two touchdowns.

"I thought his consistency in performance was really good," head coach Nick Saban said. "I thought the way he controlled the game, especially on third down - you know, we struggled to run the ball early, which kind of put us in some third and not great, manageable situations."

Young celebrated with his teammates on the field by taking part in the 60-year tradition of smoking a victory cigar after the Alabama and Tennessee rivalry is played.
