67 Days Away from Bama Kickoff: John Michael Boswell
Each day counting down to Alabama's Week 1 matchup with Utah State, I will highlight one former player whose jersey number coincides with the amount of days until the game. Let's look today at the career of Tuscaloosa's own, John Michael Boswell.
John Michael Boswell was one of the lesser known members of Alabama's legendary 2008 recruiting class. Despite playing second fiddle to some of the bigger named recruits, Boswell was no slouch coming out of Tuscaloosa County High School.
The 6-foot-6, 290 lb. lineman was a four-star prospect and regarded as one of the top players in the state. A three-year starter in his time as a Wildcat, Boswell was named an All-State selection in his final season and joined the Crimson Tide alongside names like Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, Dont'a Hightower and more.
The Northport native was just one of 16 freshmen to see the field in 2008, and he picked up SEC All-Freshman team honors for his play.
Though the former four-star's playing time would drop off as he progressed through his career, he provided much needed depth on the offensive line.
Boswell was a member of Alabama's 2009 and 2011 national title teams, and was named to the All-SEC Academic Honor Roll in his sophomore season.
