Nick Saban Joins Heisman Trophy Winner Mark Ingram for 2017 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge
Alabama football coach Nick Saban and former Crimson Tide Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram are representing the Crimson Tide in the 11th annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament May 1-3. The duo is competing for a share of a $630,000 total purse, and the team’s winnings will be split between the Nick’s Kids Foundation and an endowed scholarship at the University of Alabama.
Over the past 10 years, the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge has provided a total of $6 million in scholarship and charity. Proceeds from the event benefit endowed scholarships at the participating universities and charitable foundations selected by the coaches, benefitting a wide range of organizations throughout the nation.
Highlighted by six Dodd Trophy recipients, two Heisman Trophy winners, two representatives from the College Football Playoff selection committee and a total of 10 national championships won among the coaches. Saban and Ingram will be part of a field that includes Georgia’s Kirby Smart, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney, Auburn’s Gus Malzahn, Ole Miss’ Hugh Freeze, Steve Spurrier and Frank Beamer
The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge is being held at the Reynolds Lake Oconee resort outside Atlanta and runs through May 3. The tournament will be broadcast on ESPN in August and December. Specific air dates will be announced this summer.
